ABSTRACT

Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) as a kind of composite materials have became widespread in the strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures as an alternative way of traditional strengthening methods such as externally-bonded steel plates, jacketing etc. usage of such polymers for strengthening has rapidly increased in recent years. The advantages due to their lightweight, high strength, resistance to corrosion, speed and ease of application as externally bonded FRP sheets and strips gain considerable usage increase in construction industry. In this study, experimental results are compared with ACI 2002 and TDY2007 codes for strengthening concrete sections including the mechanical properties of FRP material. The experimental and code results are evaluated and comparison of standard deviation values is discussed.
