ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the optimal control of an N×N elliptic system with variable coefficients, subject to conjugation conditions and mixed boundary conditions involving a Schrödinger operator with time delay. The main goal is to establish maximum principles for this system. By employing Green's formula, analyzing the properties of the principal eigenvalue, and applying the Lax-Milgram lemma, the existence and uniqueness of solutions are proven. Additionally, the paper provides a thorough examination of the necessary and sufficient conditions for the maximum principle to hold, as well as for the existence of solutions to the considered linear elliptic system with variable coefficients.
