ABSTRACT

The effectiveness of clearness index for forecasting solar radiation using a five parameter mathematical model has been used to produce efficient model equations for Calabar, Enugu, Gusau, Jos Maiduguri, Yola and Zaria. High correlation coefficients have been obtained for both yearly and seasonal fits, where, for most of the stations 2 a R > 0.97, Se < 0.02, SeH < 0.2, LPE < 5 % for all the stations. Calabar, Gusau, Maiduguri, Yola and Zaria showed high correlation with kT as the dependent variable, Enugu and Jos showed high correlation with H and H' respectively as the dependent variables respectively.
