Quality of the fingerprint images is important for the proper performance of the fingerprint image matching algorithm and recognition by fingerprint recognition systems. In this work we proposed modified fingerprint enhancement image normalization by taking into consideration properties of local region. For testing purposes, we used fingerprint images from NIST database and images were divided into sub-blocks (A x B). Our results confirmed considerable fingerprint image enhancement when proposed algorithm was applied. The achieved enhancement was validated by the number of extracted minutiae.
